QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH BRENT Turner

NAME:

Brent Turner

TITLE:

Executive Vice President, Marchex Call Advertising Products

HOMETOWN:

Columbia, TN

WHAT DOES YOUR TITLE MEAN TO YOU?

I am ultimately responsible for the success of both the Marchex Call Tracking and Marchex Pay-For-Call Exchange businesses.

WHAT DREW YOU TO MARCHEX INITIALLY?

Three things: Incredible market opportunity, solid and passionate senior management team, and the opportunity to build a business. Or it was the irresistible force known as Pete Christothoulou.

WHAT HAS KEPT YOU HERE?

The path to doing something great in this industry has emerged before us and made itself obvious; what remains is largely an execution challenge. That fires me up.

WHAT KEEPS YOU UP AT NIGHT?

Nothing. I sleep like a baby. We've got this.

DESCRIBE YOUR TYPICAL DAY AT MARCHEX.

I basically try to push three things forward every day. First, I try to make the team stronger in focus, passion and effectiveness. Second, I try to move us down the road toward strategic partnerships that will accelerate our business. Third, I think a lot about our strategy, where we're headed, whether that's the right direction, and how we could move faster.

HOW DO YOU SPEND TIME OUTSIDE OF MARCHEX?

Hang out with my family. Exercise. Get involved in church. Play poker (which is particularly lucrative if Tom Leung is at the table).

OTHER PERKS OF WORKING AT MARCHEX?

Three things: First, our office space is awesome, and our location is a really good one, both for grabbing food and shopping. Second, because we are a small company, employees tend to enjoy broader roles than they might at larger firms, and they tend to get more involved in the bigger issues of the business. Third, we have a lot of really fun people and a culture that celebrates having fun in our jobs.
