WHAT DOES YOUR TITLE MEAN TO YOU?

It means I play a central role in bridging the business and technology functions at Marchex, helping us make product decisions that make sense given our strategy, get done on time, and get raves from our customers.

 

WHAT DREW YOU TO MARCHEX?

Without a doubt the people here were a huge factor. It's a smart, talented and hungry group that's inspired by a common set of goals. That shared passion is infectious – I also think we're on the path to tackling some ambitious but achievable goals that would equate to a real transformation for the company. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?

 

WHAT KIND OF PERSON SUCCEEDS IN YOUR ROLE AT MARCHEX?

Someone who's comfortable wearing a lot of hats. Going from an engineering standup to a sales call to a presentation to execs without missing a beat. Someone who can balance left and right brain thinking, and turn it into a clear plan of action – then get everyone behind it.

On a nitty gritty level, a good understanding of technology (just enough to be dangerous), competitive research, and managing requirements all help. Some Excel skills wouldn't hurt either.

 

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CULTURE AT MARCHEX?

Fun, intense and collaborative – like I said, it's a group of motivated people who enjoy working with each other, trying to knock it out of the park. It's a great place to be.

 

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING?

I've got two sons under 6 and a wife – need I say more? The other thirty minutes of my day I usually spend running or reading.
